Holman & Moody, famed car builder, took its 50th Anniversary Holman & Moody TdF Mustang to Lime Rock Park for some show and go for select media outlets. With some slight suspension adjustments and a set of Continental ExtremeContact DW tires, the track instructor logged a maximum load of 1.1805 g-forces on the closed-circuit.

“Holman & Moody is one of the most celebrated car builders of our time,” said Tony Talbert, key tuning account manager for Continental Tire. “They are known for their extreme performance within the tuner category and that’s why they chose Continental’s ExtremeContact DW tires, for their performance. Our tires gave them the confidence they needed to demonstrate the performance of their 50th Anniversary TdF Mustang. The test results are a testament to not only the performance of a Holman & Moody vehicle, but our tires as well. We are extremely proud to be aligned with such an iconic brand.”

Lime Rock Park is a natural 7-turn road course that runs for 1.5 miles. Six of those turns are right turns while just one is a left-hand turn. The highest sustained g-forces on the entire track were through the sole left-hand turn.

"After testing a number of performance tire brands, we found the Continental ExtremeContact DW tires have the best mix of street and performance handling,” said Lee Homan, president of Holman & Moody. “Using the ExtremeContact tires on our special TdF Mustangs we were able to develop 1.18 g’s of side load on the race track and the tires also felt smooth and responsive on the street.

“Other tire brands worked well on the track and some were nice for street driving, but for a TdF Mustang, that is designed to be driven to the track, driven on the track and driven home again, Continentals are the best. All of our TdF Mustangs are delivered with Continental ExtremeContact DW tires."

Holman & Moody’s TdF Mustang was fitted with 285/35ZR19 size ExtremeContact DW tires. The DW comes from Continental’s popular ExtremeContact line and is a summer ultra-high performance tire tuned for drivers seeking extreme grip during wet and dry conditions without sacrificing comfort or tread life.
