The Mustang Club of America’s 2013 Grand National “Mustangs at the Mickyard” took place August 30 – September 1st at Walt Disney World Resort in the middle of the Walt Disney World Speedway. and partnered with MCA to help bring the event to life. While it may have been a scorcher, Mustangs of all kinds were lined up, hoods propped up and ready for spectators.

Record attendance was predicted with the Imperial Mustangs of Polk County and the Mid-Florida Mustang Club. The amount of Mustangs gleaming underneath the bright Florida sun was incredible with vendor tents making a nice Midway and providing some much needed shade. Molly and Steve Saleen were both in attendance under the Saleen tent. Molly was selling her self-designed Molly Pop shirts while Steve was signing posters, posing for photos, and answering questions about the brand-new George Follmer Mustang (the first from the Heritage Collection).

The Grand National was open to all year Mustangs and Ford-powered vehicles such as Falcons, Fairlanes, Torinos, and more. Show registration included parade laps around Walt Disney World Speedway and free keepsake photos (of car and driver) by professional photographers. Additional registration options included an event banquet, Friday night dinner, old-fashioned ice cream social and “after 4 p.m.” park tickets to the Disney attraction of your choice.

The Richard Petty Driving Experience was taking place at the same time during the show on the track, if any event-goers were craving something more fast-paced.

If Mustangs weren’t reason enough, it’s a great reason to go to Disney with the family for the weekend. When you are visiting one of the most fun places on earth, you can bet that the possibilities to entertain the family are endless.

Our very own SIM editor, Mark Houlahan, was at the show as a judge.

This year was a success, so check out the photos and maybe we’ll see you next year!
