The Ford Mustang has been a favorite in the movies since it was first unveiled nearly 50 years ago, and that tradition continues in the new film “Getaway,” starring a 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake that shares the silver screen with Hollywood stars Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez. Even better, starting August 14 and leading up to the movie’s release on August 30, 2013, fans can enter online at www.FandangoGetawaySweeps.com for a chance to win their very own 2014 Shelby GT500 Super Snake inspired by the car in this new action-packed feature film.

It actually took two Super Snake Mustangs to make the movie. One was filmed overseas in Bulgaria on the set while the other Shelby was tapped for audio recording in Los Angeles. Courtney Solomon, director and producer of the new film, made the decision to use the Shelby as the main attraction.

“Since ‘Getaway’ takes place in a foreign country, I felt strongly that we needed the quintessential American muscle car with enough star power to shine with Ethan and Selena,” said Solomon in a statement. “With 725 horsepower, amazing capabilities and great looks, the Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake was ideal for this ‘role.’ Our film hasn’t even opened yet, but the tremendous interest in ‘Getaway’ by car enthusiasts is impressive. We look forward to taking audiences on the ride of their lives in the Shelby Super Snake.”

If you’re not familiar with the plot, Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) is thrust into a race against time in order to save his kidnapped wife. He is forced behind the wheel of a custom Shelby GT500 Super Snake, taking the car and its unwitting owner (Gomez) on the high-speed ride of a lifetime as a mysterious kidnapper (voiced by Jon Voight) commands their every move.

“We were pleased when the filmmakers chose the Shelby GT500 Super Snake for their movie,” said Tracey Smith, president of Carroll Shelby Licensing. “Over the years, Shelby cars have become a pop culture symbol of the American spirit and performance. The majority of Shelbys featured in past films were built in the 60’s, so we’re thrilled that ‘Getaway’ includes a modern GT500 Super Snake to illustrate how the brand continues to push the boundaries of power and performance today.”
