Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords
2013 Sacramento Raceway Show-And-Go
Having fun in the California sun with the inaugural Fast Fords & Muscle Mustangs Show-And-Go.
The famous Sacramento Raceway Park proved the perfect host for the first ever Fast Fords & Muscle Mustangs Show-And-Go put on by the 50REASONS Car Club and Sacramento Raceway. Mild temperatures and plenty of sun on Sunday, April 14th welcomed over 100 show cars and nearly 150 drag racers – all competing for plenty of trophies and serious bragging rights.
1] If the 1991 LX that the 50REASONS Car Club is surrounding looks familiar, that’s because it was featured in the January 2013 issue. The big boosted Fox is owned by John Bibbins and is as custom as they come thanks to a polished engine, big turbo, custom paint, full suspension and True Forged wheels. 2] Here are a couple of flawless former MM&FF feature cars, Matt Glover’s 1000 whp 1988 GT January 2013 cover car left, Juan Farias’ 1998 GT, middle, and Mitch Samples’ New Edge GT that will soon be featured.
The car show brought plenty of solid Blue Ovals from old school Mustangs, Fairlanes and even some hopped up Broncos to modern muscle like Lightnings, Fox-bodies, SN95s, New Edges and some killer S197s.
The lovely ladies from the West Coast Diva Dolls were on hand posing for photos and meeting all the Ford fans. For those who preferred speed over shine, there was plenty of drag racing action with single-digit dedicated drag cars and vintage drag racers to plenty of modern Fords competing for the top spots. A rolling burnout contest added a new twist on an old event – the winner being determined by the longest burnout without using the brakes (instead of the most smoke).
Sacramento Raceway Park is one of the premiere drag strips on the West Coast with a solid track surface that produces fast e.t.’s and big trap speeds. As for the 50REASONS Car Club, they pride themselves on enjoying the sport and giving back to the community by holding charity events throughout the year with all proceeds going to the Make a Wish Foundation and the Sacramento Children’s Home.
Whether you like to show or go, the 50REASONS and Sacramento Raceway show is a great way to spend a Saturday in the sun. Look for next year’s event to be even bigger yet. For more information on upcoming events visit SacramentoRaceway.com and 50Reasonscarclub.com.
