If it's parts you're looking for, Carlisle's Swap Meet area is sure to have them. We spied everything from complete project cars to the smallest trim parts and from N.O.S. to barely usable, we noted examples of it all. Don't think for a second it's all Mustang parts-it's not even all car parts in the Swap Meet area. Several vendors were on hand with tools, restoration supplies, die-cast vehicles, toys, and more for your garage, den, or game room.
How about a nice '65 289, complete with water pump, fuel pump, and distributor for only $350? A great find for anyone needing a correct casting-numbered block. | If that won't do it for you, then how about a super-rare 427 SOHC Cammer punched out to 488 cubes with Venolia pistons and Crane cams for "just" $31,500? You could buy 90 of those 289s for that kind of green. | If you're a Ford person, the name Dearborn Steel Tubing should be instantly recognizable, as it was DST that helped Ford put the Thunderbolt together and turned the racing cognoscente on their ears. We found DST in the Swap Meet area offering all sorts of FE parts. Check out these single and dual four-barrel and tri-power setups on display-the perfect induction to top off that FE restoration. Contact DST at www.dearbornsteeltubing.com or (248) 478-2646. |
The Carlisle All-Ford show always has some interesting seminars throughout the weekend, and this year's show was no different. From high-end suspension conversions to DIY powdercoating, there's great information at the seminars. When we stopped by one, our friend Dean Satterfield of TMI Products was showing the crowd the company's latest in custom upholstery, including its "Pony" interior for late-models and its expanded line of carbon-fiber and brushed aluminum accents. Cool stuff! | Carlisle Events realizes that, usually, if the dad wants to go, the whole family has to go. To that end, the Carlisle Events staff puts on a great selection of activities for the rest of the family. The Women's Oasis tent features all sorts of interesting distractions, including wine tasting, bingo, crafts, and more. For the kids, there's Kids at Carlisle, which features face painting, games, crafts, movies, model-car contests, ceramics painting, and lots more. Fun for everyone is what Carlisle Events has planned every year. | When the rain finally came late Friday afternoon, it was quick, but there was plenty of it. After just 20 minutes or so, the Swap Meet area resembled a small lake, as this poor vendor soon discovered. Rain is almost a rite of passage at the Carlisle events and most people come prepared. |
