On Saturday, October 23, 2010, the Mustang Club of Tampa (MCT) hosted its 29th annual Mustang, Shelby, and Ford Roundup. The event was held at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) and was sponsored by Bill Currie Ford-Lincoln-Mercury and the Museum of Science and Industry.
There were 278 participants registered. This was a record attendance for our annual show. Vehicles in attendance ranged from 1964.5 through 2011 models. We had cars ranging from concourse restorations through wildly modified. Club president, Mark Morley, displayed his totally original 1966 convertible and another member, Ralph Watson, showed his concourse restored '66 coupe that he bought new in 1966. Other cars included fourteen Shelby's and ten SVT Cobras. A large selection of vendors was also on hand.
Weather was great, with temperatures in the mid 80s and sunny skies. There was never a threat of rain this year.
Each registrant received two tickets to the MOSI Museum. These were used by many participants throughout the day, including kids, grandkids, and folks just wanting to get out of the heat.
Thanks to the sixty plus MCT members that worked the show, as well brought their cars out. Some of these vehicles are only seen at this show. Once again, this event was well organized and well run. The large number of pre-registered vehicles (80%) makes day of show registration a breeze. Our club was involved in three shows within three weeks, with the MOSI show being in the middle. Thanks again to all members for their help at each of these three events.
A portion of the show proceeds was donated to MOSI's "Kids in Charge" educational programs. The Mustang Club of Tampa has purchased a hands-on display for this portion of the museum. We also made a donation to the "Mason Dixon Christmas Wish Fund". Mason is a local DJ that has a Christmas project to provide financial assistance to needy families over the holidays. The Mustang Club of Tampa hosted a large show (400+ cars) for this project the week after the MOSI show.
